Then and Now
The Great Depression led to a huge change in education. Now, instead of old torn books, there are laptops and clean books. Children now are also seperated into different classes for different skills and ages. Now you can choose if you would like to take extra curricular activities or not. You have a choice of what you would like to choose and you do not have to only do the primary courses. It is harder because schools are bigger and don't have just one room for all grades, they have multiple and each for a different subject. Now schools are desegregated and all races mix which creates a greater diversity along the way. There are also more teachers that are hired because of all the grades and courses. Now there are more children dropping out not because they have to help their family, but just because they feel they have been unsuccessful or even bullied to the point that they can't take it anymore. Schools during the great depression spent their money wisely knowing that they might not get that much again. Now schools spend money on iPads and other new electronic gadgets. Now there are security gaurds whereas then the teacher had to handle the children themselves, at times, the teachers would even whip the children if they misbehaved. There are multiple schools that have special programs to help students if they are having a hard time at home, such as the community in schools program. Thanks to the great improvements in education, there is a wide array of differences between the education then and the education now.
